This qualification is designed to provide learners with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

How long will it take?
The total qualification time (TQT) for this qualification is 12 hours and of this 6 hours is recommended as guided learning (GL).

Certificate validity
Refresher training is recommended every 3 years.

Assessment Method:
This qualification is assessed by a practical assessment and a self-evaluation report, using the assessment pack.

Who needs this qualification?
This objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is a practical qualification suitable for new and experienced trainers (external and internal) who wish to improve their classroom skills and obtain a training qualification which will enable them to deliver International qualifications (excluding those that require a regulated teaching qualification).

It has been developed to allow centres the opportunity to offer a highly interactive practical training course for International clients. The focus of the qualification is on effective delivery of training, allowing learners to develop planning, preparation and delivery skills, including delivery methods, questioning techniques, time management and management of groups and individuals.

The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and training skills sector:

  • the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • inclusive teaching and learning approaches
  • assessment of learners
  • facilitating learning and development for individuals
  • facilitating learning and development in groups
  • understanding principles and practices of assessment

Learners who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions, using appropriate resources and teaching methods. They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.
